Summer break is drawing to an end. I have eight busy days left before the first teacher work day. Tomorrow I have to attend a training on some tools we plan to beginning using in the classroom. One is an online grade book. I supposed to take tomorrow's presentation and give it myself somewhere on August 24 to a group of teachers...
While summer break may be ending, I'm not sure summer itself ever made an appearance. We had an extended Spring that included lows in the 40's in July, a continuing cycle of on-and-off rain showers, and the occasional "hot spell" that saw temperatures climb into the upper 80's for a day or two. If the pattern of precipitation continues into November and December it will be a very snowy Winter.
I am trying to get ahead of the curve at the moment on writing. But I haven't been very successful at it.
Next week I'm working a booth for the local Democratic Party at the county fair for a couple of days. I'm also driving to Abingdon, VA on August 20th to participate in a town hall meeting on health care that my Congressman (Rick Boucher) is holding.
Well, let's see how much writing I can get done today...

Got a couple of questions:
1): Did you make up the 'chat' you had on facebook? I know you're prone to do that sort of thing.
2): You quote the Bible (specifically, Romans) and you continue to tout your supposed Christian Faith. How do you reconcile your claimed Christianity and Faith in The Bible with your pledge to support a political party that advocates, condones and supports the killing of thousands upon thousands of unborn, and even partially born Human Beings every year?
3): Are you really this brainwashed by 'The Party', or do you really believe that the rest of us are stupid?
Also, I'm curious about your views on the obvious and ongoing corruption with ACORN. Do you plan on posting one of your little 'news stories' about it?
Hi Eddie,
Nice to hear from you. Our last discussion didn't go very well. I think the conversation was over before I really understood that your primary goal (I think) was to get me to justify posting something to my Facebook page from sources in the blogosphere. It seems like every question you asked, I misunderstood. It seems like every question I asked, you decided to take personal offense at. I'll see if I can avoid a repeat of that...
For #1. Yes, it was a real conversation. For #2. My thoughts on abortion have been expressed in some detail here. Personally, I think your statement misrepresents the Democratic Party's position - but that's an opinion on my part. As I say in the article I've linked to, I'm not happy with my party's position on abortion. Abortion is far from being the only political issue. For #3. The question sounds rhetorical, and I'm not sure the two options you offer cover all the available conceptual terrain - so I'll just let you have that one.
In regards to your ACORN question... My Facebook newsfeed is a private forum where I post whatever I please for 132 of my closest friends. I have no obligation there to be fair and balanced. I post what I find entertaining or fulfilling. Apart from my friends (and the friends of anyone who comments on it), those posts are not open to the general public. But since you're my brother... I haven't seen a point in posting anything on ACORN's troubles (I expect you to belittle me for that), though I have discussed ACORN with at least one of my friends on Facebook.
Well, school in the morning. Hope you're well... - greg
